The Science Behind Alkalizing

What is Alkalizing?

“Alkalizing.” Maybe you’ve heard the term before. But what does it really mean? Alkalizing is the name given to the process of increasing the pH value of extracellular and intracellular fluids in your body. When body fluids become too acidic, it can lead to health problems. “Alkalizing” is a method of addressing these problems by raising the pH of body fluids, thereby lowering the acidity levels. The goal of alkalizing is to enable your body to operate in the most healthy and efficient way possible.

The pH Scale Explained…

The pH scale is a scientific scale that runs from 0 to 14. The lower the number is on the scale, the more acidic the substance is. The higher the number is on the scale, the more alkaline the substance is. So 0 is very acidic, and 14 is very alkaline. 7 is considered neutral, or balanced.

The pH scale is a measurement of how many hydrogen ions a substance contains. The greater the concentration of hydrogen in any given substance, the lower the pH number will be. The concentration of hydrogen ions increases tenfold for every number lower on the pH scale. This means that a substance with a pH of 5 has 100 times more hydrogen ions than a substance with a pH of 7. In other words, a substance with a pH of 5 is 100 times more acidic than a substance with a pH of 7.

Why pH Matters to Your Health…

Numerous processes in the human body depend on the pH levels of fluids falling into a certain range. In the stomach, for example, pH is normally lower because of stomach acid which helps break down food. However, if it becomes too acidic (such as after eating an acid-promoting meal), it can cause discomfort and health problems. Different organs in the body require different pH levels.

Problems related to excess acidity can arise due to a variety of dietary and environmental causes. For example the meat-heavy, sugar-laden eating habits of Americans are believed to contribute to the millions of cases of acid-related illnesses such as heartburn and stomach ulcers. A high acid diet can disrupt the body’s systems, making the body work harder to keep a balanced pH level. This can lead to a variety of problems, including immune system weakness and cellular mutation (i.e. “cancer”).

When it comes to our health, pH is truly a matter of life and death. Even a 1 point change in the pH of blood would kill a person. The pH of blood must stay in the range of 7.36 to 7.38. The optimum blood pH is therefore 7.37. This slightly higher pH level benefits blood because at higher pH levels a substance in red blood cells called hemoglobin binds to oxygen more efficiently. A delicate balance must be maintained, though. If your blood were to go to a pH of 7.1 or 7.7, you would die instantly. Because of this fact, the body has many systems in place to keep pH levels in check. Even with these systems, however, dietary and environmental factors can make it harder for the body’s systems to keep up.

Our pH must be in balance to reach optimum health. The goal of alkalizing is to find that balance. We want to balance pH so that our bodies are as healthy and efficient as they can be.

To find that balance, it’s important to understand a few things about acids.

The Real Truth About Acids!

Acids are common in everyday life. They’re in food and drugs. They’re used in industry. They’re even used in the human body! (The acid in your stomach helps digest food.)

An acid is any ionic compound that releases a hydrogen ion in a solution. In other words, it’s anything that makes a solution more acidic.

There are strong acids and weak acids. The strength of an acid depends on its “willingness” to release its hydrogen atoms. Two examples of very strong acids are hydrochloric and sulfuric acid, which are in the range of 1 to 2 on the pH scale.

Acids typically taste sour by themselves, but that doesn’t mean that sour food is necessarily acidifying where your body is concerned.

When it comes to food, what matters is what happens in the body. How does the food metabolize? Does it result in more acidity or more alkalinity?

And here’s why these questions about food are important: When body fluids become more acidic, the mechanisms that the body uses to regulate pH must work harder. These systems get stressed, and normal cells start to die and mutate. When cells mutate, it can result in unrestricted cell reproduction—otherwise known as cancer.

In addition to causing cancer, an overly acidic environment in your body will promote the growth of bacteria, yeast, viruses, fungus, mold, and parasites.

If you’re concerned about acidity or experience acid-related ailments, then we’ve got good news for you: balancing your pH has the potential to drastically improve your health and your life.

1931 Nobel Prize winner Otto Warburg stated that all cancer and sick cells live and thrive in an oxygen poor and acidic environment. (This is from a man who won the Nobel Prize for his work regarding cellular respiration.)

Does this mean that alkalizing could stop illness in its tracks and keep you from becoming ill? Does it mean it can make you more healthy and help you lose weight?

We believe the answer to these questions is a resounding “yes!”

This is why we strive to balance pH levels in the body. This is why we created AlkaVision Plasma pH Drops. AlkaVision Plasma pH drops were designed for you, to help you balance your pH level and improve your health.

“But isn’t That What the Doctor is For?”

When you go to the doctor with a problem, the doctor asks you about your symptoms. Based on the symptoms you describe, your doctor provides a name for your condition. If your symptoms are many, you may leave the doctor with several names of several conditions.

The problem with this approach is that we are all different. We have different ancestries, backgrounds, health histories, and so on. A particular symptom does not necessarily mean the same thing for every person of every age and ancestry. Because of this, it’s possible that different symptoms are simply different expressions of the same underlying problem.

Still, the medical community continues to play the “symptom matching” game.

But consider this for a moment: Could it be that there is, in fact, one underlying cause that leads to MANY symptoms and so-called diseases?

There are MANY very common symptoms experienced by people today that can all be traced back to acidity. Many people’s bodies are simply too acidic, which compromises the health of their blood (among other things). It is likely that many of the common ailments we suffer from stem from a single source. What source? Acid.

Why You Can’t Escape Acid…

How did acid get into your body? Where did it come from? It comes from many sources in the environment, including the water you drink, the polluted air that you breathe, and the food that you eat. The most acid-promoting foods and other factors that many Americans face today are: alcohol use, soda pop, meat, dairy, mushrooms, peanuts, corn, vinegar, sugar, caffeine, drugs, nicotine, and stress.

Acid is everywhere. You simply can’t escape it. If you’re not sick right now with symptoms tied to acidity, you probably will be eventually.

As many as 60 million Americans have acid reflux at least once a month according to the Center for Disease Control. That is 60 million Americans who are at greater risk of esophageal cancer because of one thing: acid!

Even if you think you don’t have to worry about heartburn and the risks associated with it, you’re not off the hook just yet. Acidity in the body can lead to many other illnesses and cancers. It’s no wonder that, according to statistics, 1 in 2 Americans born in the year 2009 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime. That’s a dramatic number. Combine this with the research and statistical evidence that indicates that “acidity” has been on the rise for years, and it starts to paint a rather bleak picture of where we’re headed.

Since acid is literally everywhere, we can’t expect to escape it. What we can do is take steps to alkalize our bodies and improve our health. We can offset the “dirty work” of acids, and bring a balance in pH to our bodies. The results will be greater health, vitality, and zest for life.

  1. will this help reduce the inflammation in my throat caused by acid reflux? and will it stop the reflux? also i want to know if acid reflux is chronic?

    • Vadim

They say AR is not necessarily chronic, many people have eliminated it through alkaline diet, try it we have a 60 day no risk money back guarantee.

  2. 1) If I boil water, would the water become somewhat purified?
    2) Can I use this product on my herbal tea, e.g. Jasmine?

  3. What do you consider “pure” water?

Most of the bottled water is not pure, just regular tap water put into small plastic bottles, easy to carry around.

  4. I understand that making the body alkaline is important . But what about removing contaminants in the water . Isn`t this as important as being alkaline? I`v been researching several different systems but it seems the ones that make water alkaline do not remove contaminates and the ones that remove contaminates dont make the water alkaline.. I do think the drops wud be better that a system but do they remove contaminates? Thank You…
